BACKGROUND

Our group leverages archival data to provide operationally relevant information about predictors of medical and service outcomes. By using large data sets with data from thousands of service members, we can provide accurate information about factors that may not be significant in smaller data collections.

VALUE

Using an epidemiological approach, our team has been able to determine preservice factors associated with mental health and substance use disorders, and successful military service. This information can be used to refine military policies, and to identify the characteristics of service members who may need additional support to be successful in military service.

GOALS

  • Our goal is to provide operationally useful information about factors associated with vulnerability and resilience to the stressors of military service.

CAPABILITIES & FACILITIES

  •  Medical and personnel data throughout the DoD
  • Recruit Assessment Program survey data
  • Post Deployment Health Assessment/Reassessment survey data
