Master Chief VanDall was born in Holyoke, MA and graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School. He enlisted in the Navy through the Delayed Entry Program October 1989. In October 1990, he attended Basic Training at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois and Hospital Corpsman “A” School. Upon graduation his first assignment was to Naval Hospital Corpus Christi, Texas.

His subsequent tours included: student Naval School of Health Science, Surgical Technician “C” School, student Field Medical Service School Camp Lejeune , 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd Force Service Support Group , Naval Hospital Groton, Connecticut, student Naval School of Health Science, Independent Duty “C” School, Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia, Headquarters and Service Battalion, 3rd Force Service Support Group and promoted to Chief Petty Officer. Master Chief VanDall has served in many capacities to include; Command Element IDC, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, III MEF, Medical Operations Chief, J3, JSOTF-P, Zamboanga, Philippines(OEF), LCPO/SEL, Casualty Affairs, Executive Health Clinic, Patient Administration, Directorate for Administration, National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD, Command Senior Chief/Team Chief, Maritime Civil Affairs Squadron TWO, Yorktown, VA with multiple deployments to AFRICOM, SOUTHCOM and CENTCOM AORs. Medical Department Head, Riverine Squadron THREE, Yorktown, VA where the squadron deployed to Basra, Iraq and Security Force Assistance training in SOUTHCOM and AFRICOM AORs.

He is presently assigned as the Command Master Chief Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, VA.

He is qualified as an Expeditionary Warfare Specialist (EXW), Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist (EFMFWS) and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS). He holds a Master’s Degree from Utica College in Health Care Administration and is a graduate from the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 153.

His personal awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal(5th), Navy Achievement Medal (6th), Army Achievement Medal and various service and campaign awards.
