The mission of the Vector Biology Research Program is to identify arthropod vectors, detect pathogens in vectors, evaluate control measures for vectors and assess vector-borne disease risks in the region."

  • Developing a male pheromone baited trap for the Dengue fever/Yellow fever/Chikungunya diseases vector, Aedes aegypti.
  • Novel biocide testing for Sand Flies.
  • Distribution of Anopheles (Diptera: Culicidae) in Liberia Using GIS and Remote Sensing for assessing Malaria Risk and Employing Mosquito Control Initiatives to Protect U.S. and Liberian Armed Forces.

  • Surveillance of Arboviruses Potentially Involved in Human Febrile Illness or Hemorrhagic
  • Fevers in Field-Collected Mosquitoes from Liberia. Using Conventional and Rapid-Deployable  Diagnostics.
  • Support dengue/malaria integrated vector management IVM approaches in the refugee camps in Yemen and Somalia/Djibouti.
  • Diagnostic capacity strengthening of vector borne disease threats in Al Hodayda, Yemen.
