U.S. NAVAL HOSPITAL NAPLES ITALY TRANSITION TO OUTPATIENT CLINIC IN 2018

There are no plans to close the Navy's military treatment facilities in Italy as they provide direct support to Fleet assets and flight operations permanently based in Europe, the deploying forces that are transiting the area as well as contingency support for the U.S. Marine Corps and Special Marine Air-Ground Task Force forces that operate from our European bases. Keeping the Navy and Marine Corps family ready, healthy and on the job remains our top priority.

Highlights:

  • Beginning Oct. 1, 2018, our hospital will become a clinic, maintaining same-day surgical services.
  • Maternal care and birthing capabilities will be available for women who are low risk and are expected to have uncomplicated births, consistent with what is currently offered.
  • Emergency, ambulatory, outpatient and ancillary services will also remain unchanged.
  • If a patient is required to be admitted, they will be transferred to a network facility. This excludes the admission of low risk/uncomplicated births.
  • Naval hospital leadership and staff continue to partner closely with host nation health care facilities to ensure the best experience possible for all beneficiaries by providing patient liaisons, case managers, and translation services to support continuity of care.
