Located at the Naval Station Kingsville, Texas, the Branch Health Clinic provides outpatient medical care to Active Duty Military Personnel, their family members, Military Retirees and their family members. The Branch Medical Clinic is an active participant in the TRICARE program (Region 6). We hope that you will find the information and services we have available here useful.


Hours of Operation:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 0730 - 1630

Thursday: 0730 - 1130 closed in the afternoon for Training

To book, cancel or reschedule appointments for sick call, optometry, overseas/sea duty screening, periodic health assessment (PHA), and physicals call 1-877-NAVYMED or 1-877-628-9633. If you are unable to obtain an appointment that meets your needs, our triage nurse will assist you.

For Dental, please call 361-516-6160

If the lines are busy, you will be forwarded to an answering machine.

Emergency Care :
If you feel you are having an emergency, report to the nearest Emergency Department or call 911 (6-911 on base).

After hours :
After hours medical advice and authorization for emergency care can be obtained from the Duty Doctor via the Duty Corpsman at 361-219-0074.

Away from Kingsville :
If you are away from the Kingsville area and require care, call the Health Benefits Advisor at 1-361-516-6160 and receive authorization prior to seeking care elsewhere. Please remember that without authorization, TRICARE may not pay for care sought elsewhere.
 

TRICARE Service Center: We have a TRICARE Service Center (TSC) within our clinic, all services are conducted on a walk in basis, we cannot transfer calls from within the clinic to the TSC, however representatives can be reached by calling 1-800-444-5445. Information can also be obtained by going to www.humana-military.com.

BHC Kingsville Departments
  • Laboratory and Radiology
    • BHCK has basic radiology and laboratory capabilities.
    • Any radiology study not performed at BHCK will be referred to the Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi or to a local network hospital. These include MRI, CT, Ultrasound, and Mammograms.
    • All laboratory studies not performed at BHCK will be taken to the Naval Health Clinic.
      All STAT lab specimens take top priority over physical exams.
      Please notify the technician of STAT specimens to expedite service properly.
    • Results will not be given to patients either on the phone or in person with the exception of HIV which can be picked up in person with the patients ID card and medical record. Patients will be directed to the ordering physician or clinic nurse for all other labs.
  • Overseas Screenings
    • Overseas and Sea Duty Screens can be booked by calling 1-877-NAVY-MED.
    • A dental screening is needed for all family members and can be booked by calling 516-6266.
    • For Overseas screening, we will screen the medical records of all Active duty and family members.
    • Active duty members must bring medical records for all family members going overseas along with a copy of PCS orders. If family members are followed by network civilian provider please bring a copy of those medical records also.
  • Women's Health
    • Pap smears and Depo Shots are available by calling 516-6160.
    • Pregnancy tests are available on a walk-in basis Monday to Friday 0730 - 1530.
    • We do not follow Active Duty members throughout their pregnancy. Active Duty and dependant pregnant members are referred to an outside OB/GYN.
  • Immunizations
    • Immunizations can be obtained via a walk-in clinic.  
    • All immunizations authorized by the DoD are available.
    • No PPd's are given Thursdays as PPd's must be read 48 - 72 hrs after being given.
    • Bring your medical record and shot card (PHS731) for all visits.
  • Occupational Health
    • The Occupational Health department offers medical surveillance/readiness services to the Navy's active duty and civilian community. Through primary intervention, the desired goal is to promote a healthy and ready work force.
    • Preventive Medicine monitors the base's food handling, beauty and barber shop, day and youth care and the bowling center's sanitation as well as the vector and transmitted disease monitoring. Immunizations works along with both departments in disease monitoring, disease prevention and readiness.
    • This function is a division of the Aviation department and its office hours are from 0730 - 1600. Appointments may be scheduled by contacting the appointment center at extension 6319 from within the base or (361) 516-6319. For questions or concerns, the staff may be reached at (361) 516-6507
  • Aviation Medicine
    • Squadron and Clinic Flight Surgeons provide family - centered care to local and visiting aviation command personnel.
    • We perform flight (short and long), Naval Aviator, aircrew, and special physicals.
    • Appointments: 
      • Call 1-877-NAVY-MED.
      • Be sure to specify that you need an appointment with a Flight Surgeon.
  • Dental
    • We provide a wide range of services such as:          
      • Cleanings and Sealants
      • Fillings
      • Endodontic Therapy (root canals)
      • Treatment of oral/facial injuries
    • We are unable to provide orthodontics procedures at this time.
    • Emergencies:  
      • For emergencies during duty hours, you may walk-in or call the clinic at (361) 516-6160 and our appointment desk will schedule you for an appointment. 
      • For emergencies after duty hours, call the duty corpsman at (361) 219-0074.
    • Appointment Information:
      • Active Duty Patients in a non-emergency status may schedule appointments through the Dental appointment desk at 1-877-NAVY-MED
      • Patients coming to see us for the first time should bring their dental records. Patients should also be prepared to present a list of any medications they are presently taking. 
      • All patients must present an ID card at the time of the appointment and be in uniform of the day, unless on leave status.
    • Due to the current operational tempo, we encourage all family members to sign up for TRICARE Dental Program (TDP).

  • Contact lens prescription refills may be possible. Patients should bring all contact lens related information to their appointment (such as contacts, contact lens prescription, case, solution, peel packs, etc.)
  • Retired Military:  Due to the current tempo, we encourage all retired members to sign up for TRICARE Retiree Dental Program (TRDP)
  • Customer Service Representative
    • The clinic has a Customer Service Representative to help you if needed.
    • Please do not leave the clinic dissatisfied, ask to speak to the Patient Contact Representative.  Hours:  7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
