E Komo Mai (Welcome) to Naval Health Clinic Hawaii (NHCH) where your health and readiness are our focus

NHCH is comprised of two large clinics, Makalapa at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH) and Kaneohe Bay at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Other smaller clinics are located at Camp H.M. Smith, Wahiawa, and Barking Sands on the island of Kauai. Of note, the headquarters for NHCH is not co-located with the clinics, but resides in Bldg 1750 at 480 Central Avenue adjacent to the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. Preventive Medicine, Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health Services are provided at this site, which is also known as the Shipyard Clinic.

TRICARE Urgent Care Pilot

Health Focus on…Hepatitis A Outbreak on Oahu.  “Hepatitis” means inflammation of the liver.  The liver is a vital organ that processes nutrients, filters the blood, and fights infections.  When the liver is inflamed or damaged, its function can be affected.  Hepatitis A is a contagious liver infection caused by the Hepatitis A virus.  It can range in severity from a mild illness lasting a few weeks to a severe illness lasting several months.

New Year, New You:  Tobacco-Free Living and the new Hawaii State Law

As of Jan. 1, 2016, the Department of the Navy will enact a policy that complies with the new Hawaii State law that raises the minimum age to purchase, possess, or consume a tobacco product from 18 to 21 years of age.  The new law will also make it illegal to sell or furnish a tobacco product in any shape or form to anyone under 21.

Tobacco cessation is a priority of the Department of the Navy, critical to the health, fitness, wellbeing, and readiness of Navy-Marine Corps personnel.

For information on tobacco cessation resources call NHC Hawaii's Health Promotion Department at 471-2280. The Health Promotion Department offers tobacco cessation programs to all eligible beneficiaries. The program consists of a combination of medication (patches and gum) and educational support.  This combination is proven to help users quit tobacco at a higher success rate.  Help is just a phone call away.Tips to Help You Quit
