Types of Appointments

Active Duty Sick Call:
Monday through Friday, call the medical appointment line or clinic information to schedule a time for your sick call appointment.  Active Duty service members can also present to the clinic in person at 07:30 to receive a sick call appointment time. Active Duty must pick up records at records room before signing in at sick call. Chronic problems or Physical Assessment screenings must be scheduled with your Primary Care Manager (PCM).

Acute / Same-Day / Open Access:
These appointments are for new or worsening health problems which need to be seen within 24 hours.

After Hours: If you experience a medical condition that needs to be seen during a weekend or after hours during the week, call 775-426-3100 for authorization from the duty corpsman and/or to contact the duty medical provider.

Routine / Established:
For all medical care other than injuries or sudden illness or chronic problems and physical assessment screenings.

Telephone Consults:
If you call the clinic with a question about your health care, medications, diagnosis or other issues, the staff will generate a computer message called a Telephone Consult, or Tel-Con. A health care provider will return your call within 48 hours.

Rather than calling for appointments, the website http://www.tricareonline.com offers Naval Branch Health Clinic Fallon beneficiaries the power to schedule their own appointments with a PCM. Just access the website and follow the onscreen directions to schedule your appointment.

Immunizations:
Immunizations are given to TRICARE Prime beneficiaries assigned to Naval Branch Health Clinic Fallon.

Specialty Care / Referrals:
Most specialty care providers are located in Reno and Carson City, approximately 60 miles from Fallon, requiring a drive of at least one hour. Some specialty care requires referral to Sacramento, San Francisco, Lemoore or San Diego. Referrals are made by a PCM and must be processed by TRIWEST.

Obstetric Care:
Beneficiaries who become pregnant while in Fallon will be referred to obstetrical care within the civilian network. The obstetrician will become the primary care provider for the duration of the pregnancy, delivery and post-partum period. After the post-partum period, the beneficiary will be able to return to Naval Branch Health Clinic Fallon.

Pediatric Care:
All pediatric beneficiaries, from birth to age 18, may be seen at Naval Branch Health Clinic Fallon. As a reminder, TRIWEST requires newborn babies to be registered within 60 days of birth.

Emergency Care:
Naval Branch Health Clinic Fallon does not have an Urgent Care center or Emergency Room (ER). If you feel that you have an emergency, go to the nearest ER. After the emergency is taken care of, contact the clinic at 775-426-3100 to be given authorization. This will be noted by TRIWEST for billing purposes.

DENTAL

NBHC Fallon provides general dentistry and basic specialty services to active duty personnel. All family members are strongly encouraged (even those under 4 years of age) to be enrolled in the TRICARE Family Member Dental Plan (TFMDP) administered by United Concordia Company, Inc. This must be done by the service member using an application available at CSD, Naval Branch Health Clinic, or online at http://www.ucci.com.
General Dentistry services are available in the City of Fallon. Patients must travel to Reno or Carson City for most specialty care.

TRICARE

A TRICARE Service Center (TSC) is located within the clinic to assist with related counseling, billing inquiries and Prime enrollment. From the main entrance, proceed to the rear of the lobby area, Room 324.

Exceptional Family Member Program

Mission:

The Exceptional Family Member Program identifies sponsors of family members with special medical, medically related, and educational needs.

The Exceptional Family Member sponsor names are provided to officer and enlisted detailers who will make every effort to ensure the services are available at the sponsor’s next duty station to meet the family’s needs.

The program also ensures that Exceptional Family Members sponsors whose family members require ongoing specialized medical care are located within major medical facility areas.

The Navy encourages sponsor EFMP enrollment at least 10 months prior to a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move so the detailer will have time to work with the sponsor and pinpoint the best possible assignment to meet both the Navy’s needs and the family’s special needs.

A sponsor does not have to be eligible for orders to register. Enrollment does not prevent a sponsor from meeting their sea duty obligations, not will it preclude a member from accepting a voluntary unaccompanied tour. Please contact Kerrie Reinert, EFM Coordinator, at (775) 426-3111 for more information about this program.
