We are open for:

New prescriptions (including renewed prescriptions from your healthcare provider):
  7:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding federal holidays) 

  **Due to legal and hospital accreditation requirements, a licensed pharmacist must be present to dispense new prescriptions.**

Refill prescriptions requested through the Pharmacy automated system:
  7:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
  8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Weekends and Holidays 

Peak Hours:

Monday - Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Waiting times during this time period may be prolonged due to increased demands.

Eligibility Requirements:

In accordance with NAVHOSPOAKHARBOR Instruction 6320.4C when presenting for service of any kind at the pharmacy you must show a valid military ID card. If you are picking up a prescription for a spouse or a child over 10 years of age you must have their military ID card. Children over the age of ten must show an ID card. For children under10 years of age the parent must present a valid military ID card.

If a family member or patient’s agent, at least 18 years of age, does not have the actual military ID card of the patient for presentation, a photocopy of the front and back of the patient’s military ID card is acceptable.

Prescription Requirements:

Prescriptions must be written in ink or typewritten and must show the following:
  • Patient’s full name.
  • Date the prescription was written.
  • Patient’s age or date of birth.
  • Full name of drug, form of drug, dosage size or strength, and quantity to be dispensed. An FDA approved generic substitute may be dispensed for the brand name drug in accordance with state and federal law. Please be aware that we cannot increase the quantity of prescriptions. Erasures or interlineations on prescriptions for prohibited unless initialed by the prescriber.
  • Complete directions for the patient. ("Take as directed" in most circumstances, is not considered adequate instruction and must be avoided.)
  • Legible signature of the prescriber. The prescriber’s name, stamped, typed, or hand printed on the prescription, and signature.
  • Number of refills authorized.
  • The prescriber’s DEA Number if writing for a controlled or narcotic medication.

Prescription Time Limits:

A prescription for a non-controlled medication must be filled within 1 year of the date originally written. These prescriptions may be refilled, if authorized by the prescriber for up to 12 months from the date originally written.

A prescription for a controlled substance classified as a DEA Schedule 3, 4, and 5 must be filled within 180 days of the date originally written. These prescriptions may be refilled if authorized by the prescriber, for up to 6 months after the date written.

A prescription for a controlled substance classified as a DEA Schedule 2 must be filled within 30 days from the date originally written. These prescriptions cannot be refilled.

Refills:

Refill turn-around time is 24 hours if the refill is requested by 2:00 p.m.; it will then be ready for pick-up after 2:00 p.m. the following business day. Medications that are requested after 2:00 p.m. will be ready for pick-up two business days following the request.

Refills may be requested via the automated phone-in refill system (257-9701 or 257-9705), or you may use the PharmacyRefill link. Your use of the automated systems enables pharmacy personnel to process refills during less busy periods and improve our service to our beneficiaries with new prescriptions during our peak hours of the day. Same-day refills are not available except in extreme situations. We will hold refills and new prescriptions on the shelf for seven (7) days from the date processed.

Getting a New Civilian Prescription Filled:

You must bring the prescription to the pharmacy in person or have your healthcare provider fax it to us.  Please allow 24 hours for faxed prescriptions to be ready for pickup. We do not accept prescriptions by phone or mail.
