Urgent Care

Emergency Care: Clinic personnel respond to medical emergencies on base, but it is not an emergency room. The clinic relies on Japanese hospitals for most emergency care and will transport patients to them immediately when needed. For urgent health care needs, a provider and nurse are on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Please call the clinic at 252-2551 and provide your symptoms to the hospital corpsman. The Nurse of the Day will return your call to determine the severity of your needs. The nurse will advise you of the course of action to ensure proper treatment. This may include coming to the clinic to see a provider, presenting the next working day for an appointment or calling for emergency transport to a Japanese hospital. All patients have a right to request to be seen by a provider for urgent issues.

Some examples of urgent care needs are

  • a broken limb
  • minor cuts or burns
  • sustained fever 104 or higher (100.4 for newborns)
  • persistant rash
