Hours of Operation:
The Dental Department provides care for scheduled patients from 0700 to 1600 on Mondays thru Fridays, except on Thursdays, the hours are from 0700 to 1045. Preferred sick call hours are from 0730 to 0930. The department is staffed 24 hrs for emergencies.

Availability of Services:
Open to active duty staff and referred personnel. Care for dependents and retirees are limited. Emergency care is limited to humanitarian relief of acute pain, trauma and infections.

Please call (757)953-2711 for appointments. Emergencies are seen anytime with the appropriate referral from the Emergency Department. Please page the Duty Dental Technician at 314-8337 for after-hour emergencies.

Dental/Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

The Dental Department, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth has the dual mission of maintaining operational dental readiness while training Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and General Practice Residents. Each specialty of dentistry is represented including: Comprehensive General Dentistry, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Prosthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orofacial Pain and Periodontics. In addition, 1 full-time and 1 part-time Dental Hygienist provide preventive dental care.

NMCP Buildings 1,2 and 3

Provides oral and maxillofacial surgery, preventive and general dentistry, as well as, orofacial pain services. Prosthetic treatments are limited to those cases having teaching value to the residency program.
