Once your referral has been submitted and reviewed, you can contact the TRICARE Appointment Center (1-866-MIL-HLTH) for your initial appointment. All follow up appointments can be made through the clinic. (757-953-2883) After hour concerns should be evaluated by the Plastic Surgeon on-call or the Emergency Department. For emergencies, please contact the Quarter Deck at 953-5008 to reach the plastic surgeon on-call.
Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Clinic
The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth provides a full-spectrum of services that includes the reconstruction, restoration, and/or replacement of both congenital and acquired anomalies of form and function. The plastic surgery team at NMCP is committed to providing quality care, as well as quality of life, to all their patients. Plastic surgery patients at NMCP have the security and confidence that they are receiving superb care from experienced surgeons who have both the latest knowledge and extensive training in their specialties. In addition to being sure that each patient receives excellent care and treatment, the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at NMCP also offers the latest in surgical innovation and cutting-edge technology and is widely acclaimed for its diversity of services, ranging from trauma and cancer reconstruction to cosmetic and laser surgery. In fact, the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at NMCP treats many patients who have been referred by military treatment facilities from across the country, as well as around the globe.
The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Clinic is a specialty clinic that provides inpatient and outpatient care to all eligible active duty, retirees and their dependents (beneficiaries). Services provided include surgical and non-surgical treatment of skin and soft tissue lesions, congenital craniofacial deformities including cleft lip and palate, craniosynostosis, vascular anomalies, facial deformities from trauma or post-cancer treatment, congenital and post-cancer treatment deformities of the breast, hand and upper extremity deformities, lower extremity deformities, burns, complicated or chronic wounds, and aesthetic concerns of the face and body. To achieve access to care, all new patients are required to have a referral.
Craniofacial Board at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth: The Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Clinic at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth provides a comprehensive team approach to assess the needs, diagnosis and treatment of children with clefts of the lip and palate, as well as other major craniofacial anomalies. This team includes specialists in plastic surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, otolaryngology, neurosurgery, developmental pediatrics and psychology, audiology and speech pathology, nursing, social work, and genetics. As one of the busiest military programs of its kind, the Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Clinic at NMCP cares for more than 100 patients each year and provides a wide range of diagnostic, treatment and follow-up services.
