CLINICAL PREVENTIVE MEDICINE
IMMUNIZATIONS AND CHEMOPROPHYLAXIS
Vaccines are the most effective public health tools for preventing illness and death. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) declared vaccinations to be one of the 10 great public health achievements of the twentieth century. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) develops recommendations on how to use vaccines to control diseases in the United States. DoD vaccine policies are informed by ACIP recommendations.
