BE: TAKE A BREAK

Guess how many Americans took two weeks of vacation last year? Only 14 percent! According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), even though Europeans work 300 fewer hours than Americans, they’re just as productive, if not more so, than we are.

Vacations aren’t a luxury! They’re a necessity. Statistics show that people in other countries who take regular vacations are happier and live longer than we do. In addition to allowing time to relax and reconnect with friends and family, vacations protect us from job burnout. A break from the daily grind, even if it’s just a few days, can provide a fresh perspective and recharge your passion!

Vacation Hack

Ditch the electronic devices! Having your cell phone "ding," “buzz,” and “chirp” at you every few minutes—alerting you to that “urgent” new email from work or your best friend’s latest update on their toddler—does anything but promote a relaxing vacation. So go ahead, give it a shot while you’re on vacation (or give it a test run in the evenings or weekends) and you just might notice some of your stress melting away.
