Eat: Healthy School Lunches


It’s that time of year! As children are wistfully looking at the last days of summer, wondering where all the time went. On the other hand, you’re looking forward to September, because it can only mean one thing: back to school!

While children are soaking up their last rays of sunshine at the pool, you’re probably thinking about how to seamlessly get back into a school routine. New clothes and school supplies are on the list, because who doesn’t want to have the coolest new backpack and pens? However, one item not to forget is a healthy lunch grocery list.

The childhood obesity statistics in this country are staggering. According to the Centers for Disease Control, one-third of children are either overweight or obese. Many studies show that children who are overweight or obese will grow into overweight or obese adults, and with that comes a litany of physical and mental health concerns.

Your children spend so much of their days at school—give them the tools to eat healthier!
