LEARN: CREATIVE THERAPIES

(Open only to Wounded, Ill, and Injured)

Creative Expressions Therapy (CET) sessions allow patients to explore multiple modes of personal expression through music, writing, and dance. Through these various modalities, the patient is able to:

  • Create new coping mechanisms
  • Build new personal skill sets
  • Better understand the specific ways in which trauma affects them and how to reduce those effects
  • Learn new and improved communication skills
  • Increase social awareness and support
  • Learn physical and emotional grounding techniques to aid in traumatic reoccurring experiences
  • Process specific issues with peers
  • Create new healthy outlets for the expression and transformation of feelings such as frustration, anger, depression, and anxiety.

CET sessions are offered in both group and individual formats, and are run by contracted professionals as well as Health & Wellness staff.

Music Therapy (open only to Wounded, Ill, and Injured)

This structured and accredited music therapy program is offered by music therapists who are contracted through a non-profit music therapy organization (Resounding Joy).

Creative Writing Group (open only to Wounded, Ill, and Injured)

This 90-minute group session, with 45 minutes for writing and 45 minutes for group processing and discussion time, helps participants develop writing topics either as a group or using pre-written exercises designed by the therapist to help facilitate good group discussion. This group allows patients to process therapeutic material in the safe container of a quiet group space through creative writing. (Group is limited to eight patients, and more groups can be opened, based on patient demand.)
