MOVE: FUN FAMILY FITNESS

Want your kids to exercise more? Then lead by example and get moving. If your kids see that you make fitness part of your every day life, then they’ll see it as a normal part of their daily routine, like brushing their teeth or putting on shoes.

If you can make daily exercise fun, that’s even better. Kids love gadgets, so get them a pedometer to count their steps and turn walking into a game. While out for a walk, see who can guess how many steps to the stop sign or how fast they can walk 100 steps. You can also post a tally of steps in the kitchen for a little friendly competition, or have them try and beat their personal record.

Try and mix up your daily activity to keep kids on their toes. Take a walk with your dog, ride a bike to the park or library, or have a backyard relay race. These are all fun, easy, and free ways to make family fitness a part of your day, every day.
