MOVE: Do You Belong In A Yoga Class?

Yoga has gained a lot of popularity in the past ten years as a physical activity and mental exercise. Yoga is used as cross-training for professional athletes, promoted by celebrities for weight loss and attributed as a source of mental-sharpening for powerful CEOs. Even with the all of the buzz, or maybe because of it, you may find yourself unsure if you belong in a yoga class.

We are willing to bet the answer is yes! It’s just a matter of finding the right class for you.

Here are a few helpful hints when trying yoga:

  • Read up on the style of yoga before the class and be sure it suits you.
  • Try a few different teachers. Yoga classes can differ dramatically based on the style of yoga and the teacher.
  • Arrive to class early to make sure you have everything you need, and meet the teacher.
  • Remember the three try rule: Try any new activity three times before you decide if it is one you want to make a habit or not.
