The Department of OB/GYN is focused on providing comprehensive, compassionate, state-of-the-art obstetrical and gynecological care. We are proud to offer easy access to continuity of care with the medical provider of your choice in a family-centered setting. We provide obstetric and gynecological care to active duty women, retired military, dependent wives and daughters upon a referral basis. Our services include routine GYN, prenatal care, and labor and delivery. Subspecialty clinics are available by referral for dysplasia (follow-up of women with abnormal Pap smears), maternal-fetal medicine, infertility work-ups, complex GYN such as surgical consultations, pelvic pain, URO-GYN (bladder problems).
Practices in the OB/GYN Department
Both GYN and prenatal care are provided in the framework of small group practices within the hospital setting. Each group practice consists of a combination of OB/GYN medical doctors, nurse midwives, nurse practitioners, nurses, corpsmen, medical assistants and medical clerks. Women may choose to meet several providers in a particular group practice or may have the opportunity for continuity with one provider. Women experiencing normal pregnancies and those requiring routine GYN care may elect to be seen by the nurse midwifery team at NTC or Miramar.
Practices in the OB/GYN Department providing services for active duty, retired military, and dependent women include the Azure and Teal Teams at NMCSD, and the Nurse Midwife Teams at NTC and MCAS Miramar. GYN appointments will be sceduled by referral only. Active Duty Women annual appointments can be sceduled by the military member.
