About this Service
Industrial hygiene (IH) is an applied science that includes the recognition, evaluation, and control of occupational health hazards. Industrial Hygienists are applied science professionals who, through education and training, can recognize, evaluate, and recommend methods of control. Workplace hazards can include such things as noise, heat, light, chemicals, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, and biological hazards.
We offer many services to aid in maintaining a safe and healthful work environment for Navy personnel. Our area of geographic responsibility includes all commands in the San Diego area, as well as commands in other locations such as San Clemente Island, White Sands, New Mexico and Flagstaff, Arizona. Some of our specific services include:
Surveys to identify health hazards in the workplace.
Employee hazard exposure assessment.
Occupational health program review.
Personal protective equipment recommendations.
Material safety data sheet review.
Worker awareness training. Identification and evaluation of workplace reproductive hazards.
Indoor air quality evaluations.
Ergonomic evaluations, such as workstation setup or repetitive stress injuries.
