Clinical clerkships are available at Naval Medical Center, San Diego to Navy HPSP, USUHS, and HSCP students. Clerkship requests are scheduled via email to the Graduate Medical Education Clerkship Office on a first-come, first-serve basis, depending on availability. All clerkships are 4 weeks only, with the exception for dental clerkships. 2-4 week rotations are allowed.
HPSP students requesting Non-AT clerkship are allowed for 4 weeks only and solely for November - June. However, active duty requests will always be priority. Both Non-AT's and HSCP students require a Master Affiliation Agreement (MAA) to be established between their school and NMCSD. An MAA has to be established for each individual applicant. Please give us at least four months advanced notice for these requests. Once the availability of your clerkship request has been confirmed with the accepting program and the MAA is officially finalized, we will email you a confirmation letter, a clerkship description and additional information about the hospital and San Diego.
4th Year USU Medical Students who would like to participate in a NMCSD 4 week clerkship or Sub-I rotation will submit requests to the USU Coordinator. All requests will be officially submitted on a USU Form 1304 which can be found on the USU web site. Rotation requests for July - November 2014 will be accepted starting 1 December 2013. Students are limited to one rotation between July - October, exceptions will be considered on a case by case basis.
*** HPSP and HSCP student applications for July - October 2014 rotations will be accepted starting December 01, 2013. Students are limited to one rotation between July - October.
