Clinical Clerkships

Clinical clerkships are available at Naval Medical Center, San Diego to Navy HPSP, USUHS, and HSCP students. Clerkship requests are scheduled via email to the Graduate Medical Education Clerkship Office on a first-come, first-serve basis, depending on availability. All clerkships are 4 weeks only, with the exception for dental clerkships. 2-4 week rotations are allowed.

HPSP students requesting Non-AT clerkship are allowed, for 4 weeks only, and solely for November - June. Active duty requests will be priority. Both Non-AT's and HSCP students require a Master Affiliation Agreement to be established between their school and NMCSD which can take four to six months to finalize. Please give us at least four months advanced notice for these requests. Once the availability of your clerkship request has been confirmed with the accepting program, we will email you a confirmation letter, a clerkship description and additional information about the hospital and San Diego. For HPSP students, a courtesy copy of the confirmation letter will be emailed to your HPSP accessioning representative, who will provide you instructions on how to complete your orders.

Applications for July - October 2013 rotations will be accepted starting February 01, 2013. Students are limited to one rotation between July - October.
