Our Wounded, Ill and Injured (WII) Wellness Programs provide a therapeutic approach designed to rehabilitate WII service members’ and qualified Tricare beneficiaries’ to increase health, improve quality of life and self-independence.

The WII Wellness team uses a team-based patient-centered approach. Meaning, you will be working with our WII Wellness Physician in addition to our Clinic’s Program Managers in order to create an individualized treatment plan. Our program managers will work with you to develop and meet specific rehabilitative goals, which we will eva luate and reassess on regular bases. Together we will help assist you in creating wellness from within.

Adaptive Crossfit

The Adaptive CrossFit clinic introduces a multitude of different activities that are designed to prime the muscular system, increase overall joint function, strengthen major muscle groups and improve overall conditioning.

The Adaptive CrossFit clinic is taught by a certified CrossFit instructor. Transportation is provided, as needed.

Adaptive Powerlifting

The Adaptive Powerlifting clinic focuses on three main power lifts to include the squat, bench press and deadlift.

The clinic specializes in proper biomechanincs and auxilliary exercises for each lift recognizing weak areas and program design by a certified Paralympic powerlifting coach.

Air Shooting

This weekly clinic is desgined to improve shooting skills, increase strength and stamina, elevate hand-eye coordination, focus and improve concentration.

The air shooting guns used are the same as those used to compete in the Warrior Games, Olympics and Paralympics.

Aquatic Healthy Back ​

The Aquatic Healthy Back clinic focuses on back, neck and hip issues. It introduces a variety of aquatic exercises focusing on various stretches, posture correction and core strengthening.

Archery

This weekly clinic is desgined to improve shooting skills, increase upper body strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, stress management and mental focus.

Both the recurve and compound bows are used and taught by local volunteers from the San Diego Archery Club. Transportation is provided, if needed.

Art Clinic

The art clinic focuses on the fundamental elements of different art mediums and expressing oneself through art.

The art clinic provides all the art materials and hands-on individualized help when needed.

Canine Therapy

The canine therapy clinic assists individuals with trauma to successfully reintegrate back into the community using the medium of canine therapy.

The canine therapy clinic exposes the individual to different community locations. Education will be provided on the process and differences of ESD (emotional support), therapy and service dogs.

Cycling Clinic

This adapted sports clinic involves teaching introductory cycling techniques for upright, recumbent and hand cycling riders.

This weekly clinic also focuses on socialization skills, physical strength and endurance, riding in a group safely in traffic and leisure education about local cycling locations.

Hiking

The hiking clinic will introduce a variety of local hiking trails, safety tips, nutrition packing tips and proper equipment to use.

Trekking poles will be provided to help with the safety and stability while increasing physical strength, endurance and mobility.

Kayaking Clinic

The kayaking clinic helps enhance vestibular skills, gaze stability and mobility.

The clinic also helps strengthen the core, increase upper and lower extremity strength and increase endurance.

Meditation

Understand how stress can negatively impact your health. Learn meditation and enjoy a happier lifestyle.

Lowering your stress levels can assist in reducing your risk of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, depression and gastrointestinal problems.

Open to all active duty and beneficiaries.

Music Therapy

The music therapy clinic uses musical expressions as a catalyst for rehabilitation. The music therapy clinic focuses on how music can help facilitate a positive and balanced lifestyle.

Outrigger Canoe

The outrigger canoe clinic provides muscle strengthening, low impact on joints, intense cardio and an opportunity to interact socially while practicing team work.

The outrigger canoe clinic is taught by a certified instructor and will provide adaptation to injuries when needed.

Qi Gong

The Qi Gong clinic facilitates mindfulness and meditation for healing and stress reduction.

In addition, Qi Gong vitalizes gentle, fluid movements in order to release body tension while introducing gentle breathing exercises to facilitate deep relaxation.

Run Clinic

Run to support your good health and readiness. Enjoy increased flexibility and mobility by using various running drills and techniques.

This program offers support and weekly check-ins for accountability around your physical fitness. Lace up and join us! All running levels welcome.

Salsa & Dance Clinic

The salsa dancing clinic teaches basic salsa dance steps, techniques, postured and spins.

The salsa dancing clinic focuses on physical mobility, weight shifting, balance, socialization, gentle physical contact, body awareness, coordination and progressive memory skills.

Surf Clinic

The surfing clinic offers a unique experience with either a surfboard, boogie board, stand-up paddle board or body surfing.

Adaptive surfing helps increase endurance, balance, body awareness and strength.

Swim Clinic
  • 60 minute swim session
  • Learn a good foundation for swimming in a small class size
  • Learn water safety awareness, learn different strokes, and gain confidence in the water

*Swim Practice is also offered at MWR Pool five days a week.

Tai Chi

The class is based on an ancient Chinese discipline of slow meditative and deliberate movements practiced as a system of exercise.

This clinic is ideal for calming techniques, balance impairments, and to reduce stress and anxiety while focusing on flexibility.

Tennis

The tennis clinic is comprised of basic fundamental skills, drills and plays which are taught by certified professional tennis pros and multiple volunteers.

The clinic focuses on hand-eye coordination, physical conditioning, skill building and muscle memory.

WII Healthy Cooking

Learn nutrition science and the culinary arts through cooking lessons.

Hands-on approach to learn cooking techniques and a wide variety of recipes for easy and inexpensive healthy meals.

Yoga

The yoga clinic teaches therapeutic exercises to develop strength, range of motion and flexibility.
