WHAT ARE CLINICAL NUTRITION SERVICES?

The Clinical Nutrition Department is staffed with Registered Dietitians (RDs) who will work with you to design nutrition programs to improve or maintain your health. These programs may be short-term (e.g. ensuring that proper nutrition is delivered to an accident victim until full healing has occurred). Other long-term plans may be developed for patients with diabetes, kidney disease or other conditions that affect proper nutrition. The programs designed may be preventive, for heart disease or obesity, or therapeutic to help you manage chronic conditions.

If you are hospitalized, you may receive Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) during hospitalization, illness, and chronic disease. MNT involves assessing your overall nutritional status followed by implementing an individualized course of nutritional therapy that will promote healing and management of your disease.
