CAPT Carolyn C. Rice,MC,USN

Capt Rice.jpgCAPT Carolyn Rice is originally from Valley Forge Pennsylvania and received her Bachelors in Science Summa Cum Laude from Syracuse University in 1993. She attended the University of Rochester Medical School and entered the United States Navy Medical Corps under the Health Professional Scholarship Program as an Ensign in October of 1993

Upon her graduation from medical school in 1997, CAPT Rice assigned to Naval Hospital Center San Diego where she served as an internal medicine intern. Subsequently she was assigned to the 3rd FSSG USMC in Okinawa as the Senior Medical Officer at Camp Hansen and deployed in support of COBRA GOLD. She transferred to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland for the completion of her residency in 2001. As a board certified internist, she was assigned a staff tour at the Naval Hospital Pensacola from 2001 through 2005 in which she was an elected member of the Medical Executive Committee and Assistant Department Head of Internal Medicine. She then entered flight surgery training and was appointed as Department Head of Internal Medicine at the Naval Aeromedical Institute in Pensacola during which time she also served as ACLS Director and Chair for Medical Emergency Planning Advisory Committee for Navy Medicine Operational Training Center. In 2008, she reported to United States Naval Hospital Naples, Italy and was selected as the Physician Advisor for Performance Improvement. During her time in Naples, CAPT Rice deployed as Surgeon General for the Combined Joint Special Operations Air Command in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraq Freedom where she provided en route evacuation and medical regulation. During this operational tour, she was elected as Chair of the Medical Executive Committee for USNH Naples which she assumed upon her return in 2010. CAPT Rice transferred to Naval Hospital Pensacola in 2011 and served as Department Head of Internal Medicine and Subspecialty Care Clinics. In 2013, she assumed the Director of Medical Services at Naval Hospital Pensacola, Pensacola Florida until 2016. She has been selected as the Executive Officer of the Navy Medicine Operational Training Center.

CAPT Rice’s military decorations include a Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with two gold stars and a Navy Achievement Medal as well as various other campaign medals and honors.
