NMPDC is the cornerstone of Navy Medicine’s professional development training and education mission, maintaining collaborative relationships with more than 100 military and civilian activities, and training approximately 3,000 personnel from the federal uniformed services, civilian employees, and allied foreign military members annually.

We are an echelon-4 command, located in Bethesda, MD reporting to the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) and echelon-2 command through Navy Medicine Education and Training Command (NMETC), echelon-3 command located in San Antonio, Texas. NMPDC is located on the Navy Support Activity (NSA) Bethesda Campus. Our command is comprised of military and civilian staff and five directorates: Administration, Officer Programs, Resources, Academic Programs, and Naval Postgraduate Dental School (NPDS).

Our history is long and storied. We changed our name and re-scoped our mission to support medical department training and education. Other names we carried were Navy Medicine Manpower Personnel Training and Education (NMPT&E) until January 2012.
