Step 1. Use the Agreement Decision Tree to generate your worksheet and fill out the document with your technical POC at the company. It will guide you to templates and worksheets for non-disclosure agreements, material transfers and industry collaborations.
Step 2. Forward the completed questionnaire with any supporting material (eg, protocol, or other related document) to the Office of Partnerships and Business Development (OPBD).
Step 3. The OPBD will contact you if further information is required. In the meantime, OPBD staff will generate the appropriate agreement, which will be sent to you and the collaborator.
Step 4. Once both sides come to an agreement and receive proper approval** the document will move forward for signature and execution.
Step 5. Upon receipt of all signatures, the OPBD representative will distribute electronic copies of the agreement to the PI and Collaborators, copying the IRB and/or Comptroller's office as necessary.
** Since the templates used are based on federal law and Navy policy, Collaborator requests for revisions to the pre-approved language could add significant time to the review and approval process before signature. Please allow a few months lead time for execution of such agreements.
Be sure to forward copies of all reports to OTT for your file!
