Born in Pampanga, Philippines, and raised in Virginia Beach, VA, Senior Chief Laxa enlisted in the Navy reporting to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL in May 1992 with follow on training at Hospital Corpsman A school in Great Lakes, IL.
In November 1992 Senior Chief Laxa reported to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) in VA where he was assigned to the Intensive Care Unit. During his tour at NMCP he was promoted to Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class. In January 1995, he transferred to Naval School of Health Sciences (NSHS), San Diego, CA where he attended Basic X-Ray Technician C-School. Upon completion of Basic X-Ray C-school he reported to USS CARTER HALL (LSD) 50, home ported out of Little Creek, VA, and was promoted to Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class in June 1996. During his time onboard USS CARTER HALL he deployed to the Mediterranean Sea from May 2006 – Nov 2006.
In March 1997, Senior Chief Laxa was transferred to NSHS, Portsmouth, VA where he attended Advanced X-ray Technician C-school. Upon graduation Senior Chief Laxa reported to NMCP, Portsmouth, VA where he was assigned to the Radiology Department. While assigned to the Radiology Department he served as the Leading Petty Officer (LPO) and First Line Leader.
In November 2002, Senior Chief Laxa transferred to Naval Medical Center, San Diego, CA where he served as the Quality Assurance LPO in the Radiology Department. He was promoted to Hospital Corpsman 1st Class in September 2003. Senior Chief Laxa was selected to participate in Operation Bull Dog in Quantico, VA during the Summer of 2004.
In January 2005, Senior Chief Laxa was transferred to USS ENTERPRISE (CVN) 65 home ported out of Norfolk, VA. While assigned to USS ENTERPRISE he served as the Medical Department LPO, Admin LPO and Medical Regulator. During his tour onboard USS ENTERPRISE he deployed in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom from April - Oct 2006 and May - Dec 2007.
In January 2008, Senior Chief Laxa was transferred to NMCP, Portsmouth, VA. While assigned at NMCP, he served as the Radiology Department LPO. Senior Chief Laxa was promoted to Chief Petty Officer in Sept 2009, served as the Leading Chief Petty Officer (LCPO) and Acting Senior Enlisted Leader (SEL) for the Directorate for Nursing Services. He deployed to Joint Task Force, Joint Medical Group, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba from Aug 2011 to May 2012. Upon returning from deployment he served as the Radiology Department LCPO and Acting SEL for the Directorate for Clinical Support Services.
In March 2014, Senior Chief Laxa was transferred to U.S. Naval Hospital, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer in June 2014. While assigned to U.S. Naval Hospital, Guantanamo, Bay, Cuba, he served as the SEL for the Directorate for Medical Services, Acting Command Master Chief, Command Fitness Coordinator and the Command Legal Officer. Senior Chief Laxa transferred to Fleet Medical Service School in September 2015 and graduated in December 2015.
In January 2016, Senior Chief Laxa reported to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Iwakuni Detachment, Marine Aircraft Group 12 to serve as the Navy Senior Enlisted Leader.
Senior Chief Laxa’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three stars.
Senior Chief Laxa is married to Christine Laxa and has two daughters, Vanessa 22 years old and Kaila 18 years old.
