PERFORMANCE

As a General Duty Corpsman HM2 Brown assists in the planning, and management of functions in support of medical readiness and quality healthcare delivery. He works as a team to ensure routine medical care is complete and properly recorded such as PHAs and immunizations. In order to increase the medical readiness of his crew and their ability to respond to medical emergencies, he instructs non-medical Sailors in first aid, self-aid and personal hygiene. As part of standardization, he provides assistance in the maintenance of environmental and occupational health standards and records. To ensure the Medical Department is using the latest information from higher headquarters, HM2 Brown coordinates with Medical Readiness Division Norfolk and Naval Surface Force Atlantic Medical Officers.

POWER

HM2 Brown supports combat operational readiness by ensuring Sailors aboard his ship are medically ready to fight and win. This year more than ever the small medical team onboard USS Cole has projected medical power by keeping the crew in the fight through the COVID-19 pandemic by helping to keep illness at bay. In addition to this, he projects medical power by supporting the medical needs of the crew while at sea so anyone who does become ill or injured can be quickly treated.
