*** PLEASE SEE BELOW REGISTER FOR A CLASS ***

The Aviation Survival Training Center (ASTC) Lemoore is a detachment of the Navy Medicine Operational Training Command of Pensacola, Florida. Located on Naval Air Station Lemoore in the central valley of California, ASTC Lemoore's mission is maximizing the performance and survivability of U.S. Navy and Marine Corps aircrew under the rigorous conditions of Naval Aviation. That mission is accomplished through the Naval Aviation Survival Training Program.

ASTC Lemoore provides and meets the aviation survival and safety requirements of all Naval Aviation and DoD activities. Through didactic classroom or squadron lectures, simulator devices and a curriculum that emphasizes hands-on exposure to survival skills, we offer the best survival training available to the Fleet. CNAF M-36710.7 dtd 15 Jan 2023 no longer authorizes alternate training due to inoperative devices/inclement weather for refresher students. As such, any factor creating device unavailability will result in a letter of Conditionally Qualified (CQ) or Unqualified (UQ), dependent on the number of devices unavailable, and the student will have 90 days to the complete the deficient module(s). If device unavailability is the reason for Conditional Qualification and the individual is unable to return to the ASTC for completion of the deficient training module prior to a deployment, an extension until 30-days post-deployment may be requested. The approval authority for this type of extension is the aviation TYCOM, CMC, COMNAVAIRFORES, or command delegated this authority by TYCOM CMC or COMNAVAIRFORES, for their assigned units. Refer to Paragraph 8.4.4 of CNAF M-3710.7 regarding training waivers and extensions other than the deployment extension described above.

The exception is Law Enforcement Personnel (e.g. police, highway patrol, border patrol, sheriff, customs, INS, etc.) who may be trained at no charge if enrolled in a regularly scheduled class on a not to interfere basis. If a special class is set up for Law Enforcement Personnel, they must be charged and pay for the training. In general, civilian training (either for flights in Naval Aircraft or for Law Enforcement Personnel) must either be authorized per OPNAVINST 3710.7 or have prior Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) approval
  • Department of Defense (DOD) Civilians and DOD Contractors: All applicable DOD civilians and DOD Contractors whose jobs require flying in Navy/USMC or DOD aircraft will be provided appropriate training, per OPNAV Instruction 3710.7 and NAVAIRINST 3710.1. For many DOD Contractors the type of Aviation Survival Training required may be specified in their contract. If there is any doubt about whether a Contractor should receive training, ask for a copy of the portion of their contract outlining Aviation Survival Training requirements. Payment for training of all DOD contract employees is required. Organizations without Aviation Survival Training specified in their contract, or civilian companies not under a Navy contract, must request training directly from CNO and pay for training costs. Further guidance is also available in OPNAVINST 3710.7, NAVAIRINST 3710.1 SECNAVINST 5820.7, 10 U.S.C. 373 and 10 U.S.C. 2553.
