DENTAL EMERGENCIES

Personnel requiring any non-life-threatening emergency oral or dental treatment with no other injuries or problems requiring immediate medical attention must contact the Brigade Dental Duty Section.  The Brigade Dental Duty Section will triage each case and determine whether to treat in the Brigade Dental Clinic or to refer to a higher level of care.  95% of dental emergencies can be handled in house.

QUALIFYING DENTAL EMERGENCIES

The following events would be considered non-life threatening injuries or problems that would be referred to the Brigade Dental Duty Section:  Pain in tooth or gingiva (gums); laceration (cuts) of lips or oral tissue; avulsed tooth due to trauma (tooth knocked out); intruded, extruded, or mobile tooth due to trauma; and edema (swelling) or hemorrhaging (bleeding) without difficulty in respiration.
