Captain H. Wesley Cho, a native of Ventura, California, received his Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1991. In 1994, he completed residency in Family Medicine at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, California and received certification from the American Board of Family Medicine. That same year, he entered private practice at Ventura, California and served in a variety of clinical and leadership positions.
In 2001, Captain Cho entered the Navy and received designation as a Naval Flight Surgeon. He served with Carrier Air Wing NINE 2002 to 2004 and deployed in USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) and USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM and OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. In 2004, he went on to serve as Director Healthcare Operations, Director Outpatient Services, and Family Medicine Physician at Naval Hospital Lemoore. In 2006, he was designated Senior Medical Officer, 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California where he helped write the Special Operations Forces Medical Handbook and established training pipeline requirements for Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsmen assigned to Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command. In 2009, Captain Cho returned to Naval Hospital Lemoore where he served as Director Medical Services until deploying in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM to Helmand and Nimroz Provinces, Afghanistan. On return, he served as Naval Hospital Lemoore Director Branch Clinics until 2013, when he was assigned to 3d Marine Logistics Group as Group Surgeon until his transfer to serve in the Group Surgeon position at Naval Construction Group ONE October 2015. Captain Cho assumed the role of Executive Officer, Naval Health Clinic New England, in July 2019.
Captain Cho is American Board of Medical Specialties certified in Family Medicine. He is entitled to wear the following decorations: Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Unit Commendation (two awards), Meritorious Unit Commendation (two awards), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (five awards), NATO Medal-ISAF, Navy Expert Pistol, Navy Expert Rifle, Navy Flight Surgeon insignia, and Fleet Marine Force insignia.
