Industrial Hygiene
About this service:
The Industrial Hygiene (IH) Department identifies and evaluates occupational exposures to hazardous chemicals and harmful physical agents for Navy and Marine Corps Personnel at supported commands in New England and New York State.
Services provided to customers include:
  • Baseline, Periodic and Special Industrial Hygiene Surveys per OPNAVINST 5100.23F
  • Asbestos sample collection (qualitative and quantitative) to determine
  • Navy and Marine Corps personnel's' exposures (no contractors)
  • Air Sampling at occupational settings for contaminants, such as particulates, vapors and gases (not ionizing or non-ionizing radiation, or biologicals such as molds, fungi, microbiologicals, etc.)
  • Ergonomic evaluations
  • Indoor Air Quality investigations
  • Noise monitoring, using sound level meters and noise dosimeters
  • Assistance on proper selection of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Assistance to area Safety Offices concerning their employee training programs noise and respiratory protection
  • Ventilation system evaluations
