About this service:
Audiological services provide audiometric monitoring, evaluations, and other services related to the Navy Occupational Hearing Conservation Program (HCP) and are available for active duty, dependents, and retirees.

For individuals enrolled in the Hearing Conservation Program, audiometric monitoring is provided by technicians certified by CAOHC and the Navy Environmental Health Center under the direct supervision of a board certified audiologist. Testing, ear protection fitting, and training is conducted daily in conjunction with occupational monitoring program. Follow-on evaluations with the audiologist are scheduled through the department.

All other appointments: active duty, retirees and their eligible dependents, five years of age and older, are seen by the audiologist. (Limited assessment may be conducted on children younger than 5 years of age, at the discretion of the audiologist.)

Hearing Aids:
Active Duty: Hearing Aids, all makes and models available at no cost to the patient.
Family Members of Active Duty: Hearing aid services are available through the Tricare Program for Persons with Disabilities. A full evaluation and assistance with the application process is provided through this department.
Retirees: Retiree at Cost Hearing Program (RACHAP). This program allows retirees to purchase state-of-the-art hearing aid devices at government rates. This program is not available to dependents of retirees.

  • Pure tone monitoring for the HCP
  • Ear plug sizing and fitting
  • Counseling and education related to the HCP
  • Speech-in-noise testing (fitness-for-duty evaluation)
  • Standard Audiometric evaluation
  • Site-of-lesion battery
  • (DPOAE) Distortion Product Oto-Acoustic Emissions
  • ABR (Auditory Brainstem Response)
  • Hearing Aid Evaluations/Fittings/Repairs for active duty.
  • RACHAP (Retiree-At-Cost-Hearing-Aid-Program) for active duty retirees
  • Hearing Aid battery issue for active duty and active duty retiree
