Quantico's Seasonal Influenza Information

Seasonal influenza (flu) vaccines are currently available at Naval Health Clinic Quantico (NHCQ) for all eligible military beneficiaries 6 months and older starting 1 November, 2010.  Current Centers for Disease and Prevention (CDC) recommends the influenza vaccination for all individuals ages 6 months and older.

Individuals who are considered "high risk" should be among the first to receive flu vaccines. High risk includes the following:

Medical conditions that increase the risk of complications from flu include:

  • Neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions
  • Chronic lung disease (such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [COPD]and cystic fibrosis) 
  • Heart disease (such as congenital heart disease, congestive heart failure and coronary artery disease 
  • Blood disorders (such as sickle cell disease) 
  • Endocrine disorders (such as diabetes mellitus) 
  • Kidney disorders 
  • Liver disorders 
  • Metabolic disorders (such as inherited metabolic disorders and mitochondrial disorders) 
  • Weakened immune system due to disease or medication (such as people with HIV or AIDS, or cancer, or those on chronic steroids) 
  • People younger than 19 years of age who are receiving long-term aspirin therapy 
  • People with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Other people at high risk from the flu:

  • Pregnant women 
  • Adults 65 years and older (Please note that the new "high dose" flu vaccine will not be available at NHCQ. You may seek this vaccine from a larger MTF or civilian retail network)

If you are an eligible beneficiary, you may receive your vaccine on a walk-in basis (no appointment necessary) at the NHCQ Immunizations Clinic during the following days/times:

Hours of Operation: M, T, W, F 0730-1530
Thursday 0730-1300 and 1400-1530
Wednesday 1300-1400 Yellow Fever Clinic (please avoid this time if seeking flu vaccines)

Please note that Active Duty vaccines will continue to be offered at base unit locations with a make-up date in mid November (to be announced). Military & base civilians who are deploying will be vaccinated at the Immunizations Clinic after initial processing is completed at the NHCQ Deployment Health Clinic.

If you feel you are experiencing flu symptoms, please call the clinic first at (703) 784-1725. Please do not walk directly into the clinic.
