Interlibrary Loan

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth staff members are not limited to the holdings of Library Services, but may order books and journal articles from other institutions. Library Services complies with standard interlibrary loan policies.

Interlibrary Loan Requests

Requests for documents may be made by submitting an Interlibrary Loan Request through the Library Services SharePoint page, by sending an e-mail message to Library Services or by completing an Interlibrary Loan Request form (available in the Library).

Reference & Instruction

The Library Services staff assists users in locating the knowledge-based information they need. Reference service is available from 0730-1630 Monday-Friday. NMCP staff members may ask their questions by visiting the Library, calling 3-5383/3-5384, sending an e-mail message to Library Services or by scheduling an appointment to meet with a librarian in the library or in a staff workspace.

Services include:

  • Presentations at departmental conferences
  • Advice on copyright questions
  • Searching assistance
  • Advice on licensing issues related to knowledge-based software
  • Assistance in the selection of resources for departmental collections
  • Assistance in locating information for patients and families

Full Text Access

Authorized NMCP Staff may access Library Services resources through the Library Services SharePoint page onsite or through Open Athens when offsite or on a mobile device.
