DO: Start Your Journey The Healthy Weigh

How is your resolution coming? You are on your second week of your healthy new journey, and Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) wants to help you achieve your goal!

Here are some things you can do to ensure success:

1. Drink eight ounces of water every hour between 0900-1700.

  • Do you have a smartphone? Set your alarm for every hour and drink that aqua! Having that reminder helps create a foolproof routine to hold you accountable.

2. Join free group events to stay active. Check out the NMCSD website for free health events.

3. Try to stress less.

  • Yoga, meditation, and relaxation techniques can help improve mental health. Check out these articles and in-person resources for fresh approaches to stress-less living.

4. Turn out before you turn in.

  • Keep all electronics off and out of your room for at least one hour before you snooze. Exposing yourself to the light from your screens may stimulate your brain to remain awake.

5. Get more fruits and vegetables.

  • You aren’t eating less food; you are just eating food that is more nutrient dense. There are tons of 100 calories or fewer snacks that you can fill up on for example, a medium banana, 1 cup of carrots, or even a handful of blueberries.

If you are looking for something more visit our Healthy Weigh class, it’s open to all eligible beneficiaries!

Focus on making smart choices that are part of a healthy diet by reducing bad fats (saturated and trans fat) which will help you to improve your cholesterol, understanding food labels and overcoming exercise hurdles!
