Commanding officer - Captain Bradford L. Smith
CAPT Smith, originally from St. Louis, attended Northwestern University and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1988. He received his commission as an Ensign through Aviation Officer Candidate School as a Naval Aviator in 1989, earned his wings of gold and flew the F/A-18 “Hornet”. He went on to earn a Master’s of Arts in Biology with a focus in molecular and cell biology from Washington University in St Louis in 1994, and then his Medical Doctorate from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 1998 through the Health Professions Scholarship Program.
