NME Reserve Component Leadership
Rear Admiral Christina M. "Tina" Alvarado, Deputy Commander (RC), NAVMEDEAST
Rear Adm. Alvarado is a registered nurse and graduate of the Alexandria Hospital School of Nursing, Alexandria, Va., Columbia University School of Nursing, New York, N.Y., and holds a Master of Health Care Administration from the University of North Carolina, School of Public Health. She has worked in the clinical areas of orthopedics, neurosurgery and intensive care.
Alvarado became certified in critical care nursing in 1983, and held civilian professional nurse positions at United Hospital, Portchester, N.Y., Alexandria Hospital and Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. She was the first nurse to command Naval Reserve (NR) Expeditionary Medical Facility (EMF) Dallas One, a commissioned unit whose mission is expeditionary medicine. She led the transformation of the unit and stood up the first Reserve EMF in 2011. <more>
Captain Stephen J. Glawson, Dental Corps, Deputy Chief of Staff (RC), NAVMEDEAST
Captain Glawson is a 1982 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond VA. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the Farleigh F. Dickinson University’s School of Dental Medicine, Hackensack, N.J., in 1986. He accepted a direct commission to the Navy. Upon graduation he attended OIS in Newport, Rhode Island. He was detailed to the Naval Dental Region, Norfolk Va., in February 1987. He was subsequently ordered to the 22nd Dental Company, 2nd Dental Battalion, 2nd FSSG, and Camp Lejeune, N.C. He was assigned TAD to the 22nd MSSG; his unit deployed upon the USS Guadalcanal LPH-7, with the 22nd MEU (SOC), MARG 1-89. He was the Dental officer in charge of treatment for deployed Marine personnel. <more>
