About Us
Our strength lies in a union of research, teaching and excellent patient care.
Navy Medical Forces Pacfic (NMFP) is Navy Medicine's health care system on the West coast providing medical care to over 675,000 beneficiaries. Primary, specialty and hospital-based care services are provided at all facilities.
The region headquarters is located at Naval Base San Diego, complex, with medical treatment facilities and dental centers on the Northern and Southern West coast, in Hawaii, Japan and Guam.
History of Navy Regions
In August 2005, Navy Medicine implemented a realignment effort to better direct the collective shore-based assets of Navy Medicine to maintain readiness and deliver the highest quality care in the most cost effective manner. This effort resulted in the standing up of four Echelon 3 (flag level) commands — Navy Medical Forces Pacific, Navy Medical Forces Atlantic, Navy Medicine National Capital Area and Navy Medicine Support Command. Subordinate commands under Navy Medical Forces Pacific include all Navy Medical Treatment Facilities and Navy Dental Centers on the West coast, in Hawaii, Japan and Guam.
