Captain Elizabeth M. Adriano, Medical Corps

Elizabeth Adriano began her military career in the United Stated Air Force as a medical student at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Upon graduation from medical school, she transitioned to the United States Navy.
She finished medical school in 1996 and completed her internship at Naval Medical Center (NMC) San Diego. She then spent time as a General Medical Officer, first at Naval Hospital (NH) Great Lakes, Michigan, and then at the Staff Sick Call clinic at NMC San Diego. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology in 2001 and her first duty station as an attending provider was NH Beaufort, South Carolina, where she spent three years as the Department Head. She was transferred to NH Guam where she was again the Department Head and was elected to the position of President of the Medical Staff/Chair, Executive Committee of the Medical Staff.  She served in this position for two years of her three-year tour.
When her active duty husband was selected to the Emergency Medicine residency program at Portsmouth, Virginia, she moved with him and began a five-year tour at NMC Portsmouth. She served as Division Head for General Obstetrics & Gynecology for one year, and in 2008 she was promoted to Vice Chair for the Women’s Health Department. In 2009, she advanced to Chair, Women’s Health Department. She also served as the Directorate of Surgical Services representative to the ECOMS for two years and assisted in successful The Joint Commission and Medical Inspector General surveys.
In 2012, she received orders to NH Sigonella, Italy, and was selected to serve as Director for Surgical Services. After a successful two-year tour in Sicily, she took orders to NH Jacksonville as a Staff Physician in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. She was asked to serve as the first Champion, High Reliability Working Group in November 2014 and in February 2015 she was competitively selected to serve as Director for Surgical Services.
Captain Adriano is currently assigned to NH Pensacola, Florida, as the Executive Officer.  NH Pensacola serves over 150,000 beneficiaries including its 10 Naval Health Branch Clinics across five states. 
Her personal awards include a Navy Commendation Medal and two Meritorious Service Medals.
