 April - Sexual Health

Sexual health is a state of well-being that involves physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual dimensions, and is based on a positive, equitable, and respectful approach to sexuality, relationships, and reproduction that is free of coercion, fear, discrimination, stigma, shame, and violence.  The resources in this toolbox focus on the prevention of unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.

Despite the fact that HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and unplanned pregnancies are preventable, 7500 active duty sailors and marines were diagnosed with chlamydia, gonorrhea or syphilis in 2015 [1] another active duty sailor or marine is diagnosed with HIV every 4 days [2], and 59% of enlisted female sailors say her last pregnancy while in the Navy was unplanned [3]
