The hospital has an Emergency Medical Department, four operating rooms, and a seven-bed Labor Delivery Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP) Unit, and a Multi-Service Ward (MSW) for inpatient care. With the Covid-19 pandemic, negative-atmosphere rooms have been established to ensure maximum patient/staff protection. Modern full-service pharmacy, laboratory, radiology departments, physical therapy and occupational health clinics are also available to beneficiaries.

Medical services available at the hospital include Audiology, Nutrition Clinic, Family Medicine/Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Immunization Clinic, Obstetrics/Gynecology, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Optometry, and Mental Health Services.

Specialty support and referrals for major inpatient and outpatient care not available locally are often provided by one of the local network hospitals such as, Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree, Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, Loma Linda University Medical Center, Eisenhower Medical Center in La Quinta and Naval Medical Center San Diego.

Our Radiology Department offers mammography and in-house MRI scans.

Medical support in some complex cases may not be readily available. Family members and retirees may be referred to civilian sources for care, using benefits covered under one of the TRICARE programs.

Mission

We support readiness and health of the Navy and Marine Corps family by providing safe and high-quality healthcare.
Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command NAME is comprised predominantly of military members that support Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms (NHTP). The command supports overall Navy and Marine Corps readiness by providing medical support and pre-deployment screening for the approximately 11,000 Marines assigned to the Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command / Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, the largest air-ground live-fire Marine Corps training base in the world. NHTP additionally supports the training units, including the foreign-forces, who rotate through the Combat Center for live-fire exercises.

History

Marine Base Twentynine Palms Medical Dispensary was the first medical facility established shortly after the Combat Center opened in 1953. It remained a medical dispensary until 1974 when it was re-designated as Branch Hospital of Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. The command was re-designated in July 1988 and became Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms. Soon after, plans were developed to build a more modern building, allowing the hospital to expand. The new hospital was completed in 1993 and the staff was moved in shortly thereafter. In May 2000, the hospital was renamed as the Robert E. Bush Naval Hospital for Hospital Corpsman (Hospital Apprentice 1st Class) Robert E. Bush, Medal of Honor recipient.
