Rear Admiral David M. Buzzetti

Rear Adm. Buzzetti is a native of Orlando, Florida. He is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree (manga cum laude) in Cardiopulmonary Science. He holds a Master of Medical Science (highest honors) in Anesthesiology from Emory University and both a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Health Administration (MHA) from Georgia State University. He completed Joint Professional Military Education from the Air University’s Air Command and Staff College and Advanced Joint Professional Military Education (AJPME) from the Joint Forces Staff College. He is a graduate from the School of Aviation Safety then from the Naval Post Graduate School and also completed the Maritime Staff Operator’s course from the Naval War College.

Designated a naval aerospace physiologist, Buzzetti received initial orders to Aviation Survival Training Center, Naval Air Station Norfolk, where he served as support division officer, administrative and training division officer, and diving officer. Transferring to Marine Aircraft Group 12 in Iwakuni, Japan, he served as the aeromedical safety officer, Night Imaging and Threat Evaluation (NITE) Lab supervisor and LASER System Safety specialist.

Buzzetti transitioned to the Navy Reserve in August 2003, and was assigned to the 4th Dental Battalion, Marietta, Georgia where he served as administrative officer. Since then he has served in various Fleet, Operational and Staff assignments including 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, 4th Medical Battalion, U.S. Pacific Fleet, COMNAVEUR COMNAVAF U.S. 6th Fleet Detachment 802, Navy Medicine Support Command, Chief of Naval Operations OPNAV N3/N5, and the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. Buzzetti was mobilized in support of Operations Noble Eagle and Enduring Freedom with Expeditionary Strike Group Five (Task Force 51) in Manama, Bahrain where he served as medical planner and liaison officer to Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command Surgeon (N014).  

As commanding officer of Expeditionary Medical Facility Bethesda, he led a full-unit mobilization in support of ARNORTH COVID-19 response efforts. He was assigned post command as deputy chief of staff for Naval Medical Forces Atlantic in Portsmouth, Virginia.  Buzzetti is currently assigned as deputy chief of staff, Reserve Component, N093, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Buzzetti received the Fleet Marine Force Qualification (FMFQO) in November 2007. He is authorized to wear the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Naval Commendation Medal, Naval Achievement Medal, and Meritorious Unit Commendation. In his civilian career, Buzzetti currently serves as chief operating officer with Concordia Anesthesiology, Inc. in Atlanta Georgia.
