Rear Admiral David G. Malone

Rear Admiral Malone is a native of Halstead, Kansas. He is a graduate of Wichita State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Graduate education commenced at The University of Kansas School of Medicine where he was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine. He then completed post-graduate internships in Internal Medicine, General Surgery, and a Residency in Neurological Surgery all at the University of Kansas. Following residency training, he served as a Clinical Instructor in Neurosurgery while completing a one-year Complex Reconstructive Spinal Surgery Fellowship at the University of New Mexico.  He began his Navy Reserve career as a direct commissioned officer serving from 1988 to 1999 and reaffiliated with the Navy Reserve in 2010.
 
His operational assignments include Fleet Hospital Dallas, Operational Health Support Unit Dallas, Expeditionary Medical Facility Dallas One, Operational Health Support Unit Camp Lejeune, and Operational Health Support Unit Bremerton. He deployed with Naval Expeditionary Medical Unit 15 to Landstuhl Germany as Senior Medical Executive and Command Neurosurgeon. He served as the Senior Medical Executive of Expeditionary Medical Facility Dallas One, the Executive Officer of Operational Health Support Unit Camp Lejeune, and the Deputy Chief of Staff for Naval Medical Forces Pacific Reserve.
 
His command assignments include Operational Health Support Unit Bremerton and Navy Reserve Naval Medical Readiness and Training Command Camp Pendleton.
 
His awards include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal award with two gold stars, and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal. He is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
