Acting Force Master Chief Hansen Q. LaFoucade

Hailing from Harlem, New York, Master Chief Petty Officer Hansen LaFoucade enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September 2003. After basic training, he graduated from Field Medical Service School (FMSS) as a Field Medical Service Technician (L03A).

In July 2004, he joined 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, California. December 2004 marked his deployment with Battalion Landing Team 1/1 aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6). During this deployment, he earned his Surface Warfare, Aviation Warfare, and Fleet Marine Forces Warfare qualifications. He was promoted to petty officer 3rd class in March 2005.

By March 2007, LaFoucade had advanced to petty officer 2nd class and transitioned to a role as an instructor at the Naval Expeditionary Medical Training Institute (NEMTI) at Camp Pendleton, California.

While at NEMTI, he completed prestigious training as a journeyman instructor and deployed as an Individual Augmentee in support of overseas operations (August 2008 – April 2009). Upon his return, he became the command's Master Training Specialist (MTS) program manager and earned the "806R" NEC as a Command Career Counselor (CCC). He served as the command's assistant career counselor and was recognized as the 2010 Junior Instructor of the Year.

In 2011, he transferred to 1st Marine Logistics Group as the command career counselor. Promoted to chief petty officer in 2013, LaFoucade assumed duties as a placement coordinator and rating specialist at Navy Personnel Command, Millington Tennessee.

Selected for senior chief petty officer in 2017, he served at Naval Medical Center San Diego as the senior enlisted leader for key directorates. In 2020, he took on the role of health service support senior enlisted medical advisor at II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Recognition for his exceptional leadership came in 2021 with his selection to master chief petty officer.

LaFoucade assumed his current position as deputy director of the Hospital Corps at the U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in August 2023.

Master Chief Petty Officer LaFoucade is a graduate of Senior Enlisted Academy Class 200 and the Executive Medical Department Enlisted Course. His exemplary service is reflected in his decorations, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with three gold stars), Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with one gold star), and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
