WASHINGTON, D.C. - 071028-N-0502M-107 WASHINGTON (Oct. 28, 2007) - More than 22,000 participants participate in the 2007 Marine Corps Marathon. Tamrat Ayalew, of Ethiopia, was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 2:22:18. The first Marine Corps Marathon began in 1976 with nearly 2,000 participants.
