Cmdr. Andy Baldwin, a doctor and former star of ABC's "The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman," Monday, Nov. 7, at 2 p.m. EST. Baldwin recently returned to the United States after serving in a one-month temporary assignment in Kenya, where he practiced family medicine in the rural areas of the country. ?"With limited resources in these remote and sometimes austere environments, as a health care professional you are forced to practice medicine differently, in a raw and natural way, often times without a conclusive, satisfying result," said Baldwin in a blog written for Navy Medicine Live last month, http://navymedicine.navylive.dodlive.mil/archives/1067.??"?But the key to measuring results in these areas is not through lab tests, MRIs, or a definitive diagnosis; it is through taking the pain or itch away (even if just briefly), giving someone shoes to wear, making them smile, and often times just giving a person the chance to see an actual doctor for the first time in their lives." Baldwin will be available via LiveStream to answers questions from the public and media regarding the U.S. Navy's mission as a "Global Force for Good," the role of Navy Medicine in that mission and his latest assignment in Kenya. Known for his personal philanthropic efforts, Baldwin completed the Nairobi marathon to raise funds for charity prior to returning to the States from Kenya. He will also run the New York City marathon Nov. 6 in another fundraising effort for charity. Anyone interested in participating in the LiveStream Chat can join via the U.S. Navy Facebook site or LiveStream.?
