(Photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Yasmine T. Muhammad) Lt. Jose Pulido was selected as the Navy Junior Pharmacist of the Year for fiscal year 2014. Pulido serves as the outpatient and branch health clinic division officer and has worked at NHCP for 18 months. ?I?m extremely honored for being considered and actually winning this award,? said Pulido. ?It?s a testament to the work that all the people that work with me have done this past year. It is great to be recognized for doing the things that have made us successful.? Among his accomplishments for receiving this prestigious award is the expansion of pharmacy services to more than 3,000 enrollees through the design and execution of a $424,000 expansion of the 13 Area Mainside Clinic Pharmacy. He also expanded pharmacy services at numerous Marine Corps Regimental and Battalion Aid Stations across the base. ?I think [Pulido] is the true definition of someone who just came in and hit the ground running,? said Lt. Cmdr. Dean Kang, NHCP pharmacy assistant department head. ?He has truly showed that he does everything that it takes to succeed with the mission and make sure that the pharmacy continues to be successful and is a great place for our patients and our hospital.? Mr. Daniel McDonald was awarded the Navy Civilian Pharmacy Technician of the Year award for fiscal year 2014. McDonald has worked at NHCP for more than three years. ?The first thing that came to mind when they told me was that I was really humbled and I felt it was a pretty great honor, considering I was competing against several hundred other individuals,? said McDonald, pharmacy technician and retired Marine Gunnery Sgt. ?It wasn?t just me, it was a team effort but it is a great honor to be recognized.? McDonald received his award for his initiative and willingness to take on any and all tasks and has distinguished himself as one of the top civilian pharmacy technicians at NHCP helping to maintain the highest standard of care. ?[McDonald] is like a non-stop working machine,? said Lt. Cmdr. Baldomero Sagrado, NHCP pharmacy department head. ?He does quality work over quantity and it is a good balance. In addition to that, with him being a retired Marine, he has a strong voice and presence to lead the people here.?
