Manpower and Personnel

Manpower and Personnel Officers develop, analyze, and execute policies and strategic short-term and long-term plans to ensure that Navy Medicine is recruiting, training, utilizing, and retaining personnel in the most efficient and effective ways possible.

Attain requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities through formal education, training, or experience to lead Navy Medicine manpower, personnel, and human resources initiatives.

Most utilization tours completed at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) or one of its detachments. Some utilization tours maybe completed at Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) primarily as the Department Head for Human Resources. After completion of the initial utilization tour, Manpower and Personnel analysts often pursue out-of-specialty tours (operational, MTFs, or milestone billets).
