Occupational Therapists (OT) work with people across the lifespan to maximize their daily functional and work performance. OT evaluations are holistic, and we are skilled in neuromuscular, cognitive, and psyco-social assessments and treatments.

Navy OTs specialize in four practice areas of:
  1. Upper Limb and Hand Rehabilitation –we are the bridge between medical management and successful performance.
  2. Pediatric Intervention –we are a vital related service under Federal law, and help overseas beneficiary dependents develop the skills they need to grow and maximize their educational experience.
  3. Traumatic Brain and Concussive Rehabilitation –we identify and remediate the motor, sensory, cognitive and behavioral dysfunction secondary to brain injuries and concussions. OTs work to improve or develop compensatory strategies targeting memory, critical thinking, emotional regulation, goal setting, time management, attention, and vision-related issues.
  4. Human Performance and Resiliency Training –our goals is to maximize an individual’s physical performance, cognitive functioning, and emotional well-being to overcome hardships and improve performance while under arduous or austere conditions.
Lt. Charles Knight, occupational therapist at Naval Hospital Pensacola (NHP), works with a patient to improve fine motor skills in his hand at NHP, April 15. Occupational therapy is a science and evidence-based profession that utilizes a holistic approach to help patients increase functional independence in daily life while preventing or minimizing disability through the therapeutic use of everyday activities.
