CAPT Sharon House

A native of Gardiner, Maine, Capt. Sharon House received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Norwich University and her Master of Science in Nursing, Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist and post graduate certification in wound, ostomy and continence nursing from the University of Virginia.

Operational assignments include staff nurse and mass casualty officer, Joint Task Force, Joint Medical Group Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; staff and senior nurse, 1st Medical Battalion, Bravo and Charlie Surgical companies (Operation Moshtarak); Concussion Restorative Care Center, Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan; officer in charge, Naval Expeditionary Medical Training Institute, implementing the first Expeditionary Medical Facility operational readiness evaluation in 15 years.

Previous assignments include staff nurse positions at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Florida; Multi-Service Ward assistant division officer, Naval Hospital Rota, Spain; clinical educator, Naval Health Care New England; duty under instruction, University of Virginia; division officer, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia; and Family Medicine department head and deputy director of the Marine and Sailor Concussion Recovery Center, Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  During this assignment, she established the Intrepid Spirit Concussion Recovery Center and earned the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States (AMSUS) Rehabilitation Award.

Executive assignments include director branch clinics, Naval Health Clinic Quantico, Virginia; officer in charge, Naval Expeditionary Medical Training Institute Camp Pendleton, California; executive officer, Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton (and its 18 branch health clinics) and Naval Medical Readiness and Training Command Camp Pendleton (and its four units), commander, Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Jacksonville (and its five units), and director of Naval Hospital Jacksonville (and its five branch health clinics). In August 2024, Captain House became the deputy commander of Naval Medical Forces Development Command.

House is qualified as a Fleet Marine Force Warfare Officer. Personal awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and multiple unit, campaign and service awards.
